Rehoming an old friend...

When I was young I took piano lessons.  Lots of us did.  When I moved out of my parents home I got my piano.  It has followed me for 34 years!   And, no I do not play the piano any more.  My piano lived in our dining room and I REALLY  wanted and antique buffet to refinish (paint) and put in the dining room. Well in the fall of 2016 my mom ran across an amazing buffet ( it needed some repairs, but a real beauty). Yes the piano was still in residence in the dining room and numerous attempts to find her a new home was not going well.  Mom and I drove down to Paducah to Sisters & Friends and loaded up the buffet and some refinishing supplies.... Miss Lillian's Chock Paint and glaze and top coat.   I began the task of repair and painting all while STILL trying to rehome my piano.  The buffet was complete and Garrett and I got it in place. Now the piano lived in the middle of the dining room!  Well, finally the piano found a new home by donating her to Morthland College where she would have new friends to play with!  And I love the "new" buffet!

What if....

...things don't always go as planned. Do they ever ? I started this blog back in 2012. Yep, about 5 years ago!  I've posted some, but not regularly, so it's time to get in gear and do this !  Catching up, here's some of the things that have happened along the journey of my life--
  • 2014 - May--My business was displaced due to the neighboring building collapsing.
  • 2014- June --I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
So, we moved our Insurance Agency into another building and then one final move to get settled. All this while I went through chemo for 13 months and 35 radiation treatments and several surgeries. I AM OKAY !  I'm back to normal... working full time and back to doing all the "stuff" I did before.  And anyone who knows me know I love to be busy! What else could I do ? Hmmmmm..... So... I started my very own virtual franchise with Rodan + Fields!   I have been super excited to take on this new venture.  I'll be sharing more on that soon ! This is so true and I do love amazing !!💕

Well, the big time change finally happened!  I am so happy for the change. With this change, I'm ready to get my blog going full force and hopefully get followers and grow.  Spring has so much to bring and leave the cold and all behind. So with fingers crossed, I'm jumping in!  More photos and posts are in the future, so please follow me!

At Home On Redbird Lane: The yard at Redbird Lane...

The yard at Redbird Lane...

Our yard is finally starting to show some color..... The first picture is the front berm that's ready for mulch. In the second are the Rhododendron that are stunning
this year. The third picture shows Red Honeysuckle waiting on the Hummers! And, the final photo is light purple Iris. They bloomed a bit late but are beautiful!
This weekend I have some containers to plant and a couple of spray paint projects. weather permitting.

Projects on tap...

I have lots to do.... Work in the yard, spring/summer decor in the house and a couple of paint projects. I have an old (20 or 25 yrs) bread box from Walmart I am going to redo.... Haven't used it in years. I am going to use some ASCP on it. Watch for the before and after pictures! Also I will be posting pics of a pair of cool green vintage shutters. What a find hey were! What to do with the shutters?
1. Use on the mantle
2. Make shelves using the vintage brackets in my stash
3. Make a small screen

Happy New Year....and memories of the past

Happy New Year! We have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year on Redbird Lane. There are so many thoughts buzzing in my head right now....but one thing I ran across while shopping were bags of Brach's Chocolate Stars--so I bought two! My grandma always used them. I made peanut butter blossoms and I used Stars instead of kisses! I am going to attempt to lol this post (yikes hope it works!) This will be my 1st linky!
